When my previous (similar) corkscrew broke I tried to find a replacement part, only to discover they are no longer in business. I came across this Oggi and it is a much better product - well made and very smooth in operation. An added bonus is the nice little stand.

I bought this corkscrew because my daughter had bought another version of this type for $100!! I used it when I was there and Loved It! But I cant spend that kind of money on a corkscrew. I saw this one and figured, at that price, why not?
I was amazed when it arrived. It looked and felt just like hers...same heft...same look. Then I opened my first bottle with it. WOW! Clamp it around the neck of the bottle, and a back and forth motion of a lever pops out the cork! Takes 5 seconds! After using an Alessi for 10 years (yes, it did last that long but...)...screwing it down and then using brute force to get it out, this is a dream.
Anyone who opens wine bottles on a regular basis should have this corkscrew!! You will absolutely love it...and at this price? It's crazy good.

This wine bottle opener is perfect. just place over the end of the bottle, squeeze the grips to hold the bottle, push the lever to drive the screw into the cork and pull the lever to remove the cork from the bottle. once the cork is removed, squeeze the grips again and pull the lever to remove the cork from the corkscrew. it's that easy.
i'm an 'old-school' kinda guy and tend to shy away from new products. i've always used the traditional corkscrew typically used by waiters. a friend gave me the oggi as a gift. it sat in my closet for a couple years until i accidentally threw away my waiters corkscrew. i thought, what the heck, i'll give it a try. i couldn't beleive how easy it was to use! i'm writing this review because i got online to get another one as a gift for a friend and just couldn't let the bad review by someone else deter people from trying this product. it really is great.
this product also includes a foil cutter that you place on top of the bottle, squeeze, and twist to remove the foil to expose the cork.
