I am very pleased with this unit. Simple to setup (just set the switches), insert the drives, and power up. I have two Hitachi Deskstar 2TBs installed and am using the eSATA port connected to a Sonnet Tempo Pro card. Ridiculously FAST!

Background of purchase:
I have an 8TB Windows Home Server machine that just wasn't always cooperating with my new iMac when it came to my iTunes library which includes about a terabyte of media that I stream to my Apple TV. Hassle-free redundancy is very important to me, so having mirrored hard drives was a must. Additionally, Firewire 800 was another requirement because there is nothing worse than transferring big files over USB 2.0 and, of course, the iMac doesn not have an eSATA port either. Looking at my options, this unit appeared to be the best bang for the buck that didn't look shoddy, even though the reviews at the time were not overwhelmingly positive- I decided to give it a shot despite not knowing the brand.
Initial impressions:
The build quality of this was the first thing I noticed. The brushed aluminum matches my iMac perfectly and the parts that are plastic appear to be very thick and sturdy. Even the handles for the hard drives are the same brushed aluminum- really nice. Even the packaging was above average- that is always a good sign when it comes to electronics- where cheap Chinese imports can be the norm. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that all the cables for the different connection options were included! I had tried searching to see if the cables (specifically Firewire 800) would be provided before making the incorrect assumption that they would not be (other units I've seen would only include a USB cable). I therefore picked up a Belkin cable with the order that I'll be returning.. it would be nice to have a comprehensive list of what is included, or atleast a photo of everything, seller!
Setting up:
This was extremely straight-forward to set up. The documentation was better than I had expected- including both a quick start guide and a full manual, though the full manual appears to still be fairly basic, although the functions of the unit are also basic I suppose. I threw in a pair of 2TB drives (formatted for Windows at the time)- 1 WD green and 1 Samsung something or other. Taking a glance at the documentation, I saw that the unit was already set to RAID 1 (mirrored) by default, so there was no need to flip the switch settings for me. After plugging it into my iMac via Firewire 800, the mac told me they couldn't be read and gave me the option to "initialize" them. I assumed this meant to format them for mac and I was correct- that option took me straight to the dick utility to create a new partition for mac. After about 30 seconds, I had a full 2TB of redundant drive space at my disposal! From unboxing to this point took all of 10 minutes, I would guess- with the majority of that time being spent screwing the 8 screws into my two drives.
Performance:
I left the file copying process going overnight and I didn't do any benchmarking of the speed, but it appeared very fast- no complaints there. Since then, it's been running great for the past couple of days. The fan is audible when I am within a few feet of the unit, but it is, thankfully, a very low pitched hum that is not at all distracting. I was hoping the fan would shut off when the drives spin down, but this doesn't appear to be the case. The only other minor nitpick is the brightness of the LEDs. While they aren't room-lighting, blindingly bright like other electronics I've had, they are still brighter than they need to be for a unit that is clearly meant to be displayed. I may look into covering them up to atleast dim them- it shouldn't be difficult.
Overall I am very pleased with my purchase thus far and would highly recommend this for Mac users who want a small, attractive RAID 1 unit. I would not recommend this for JBOD mode considering the function for the drives to spin down when the Mac sleeps does not work.

Build quality looked good, and it came with all the needed cables. I was looking for a trayless unit so I wouldn't have to mess with screws every time I wanted to put a new drive in. Unfortunately this is not trayless as described, but rather has a handle you have to screw onto the hard drive.
Was able to connect via usb, and esata, but firewire 400 and firewire 800 did not work, so I had to return the unit.
